Sonography of the internal capsule and basal ganglia in infants: 1. Coronal sections.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Coronal sonograms in infants obtained with 3.5 and 5.0 MHz sector and linear-array transducers now depict the anterior limb, genu, posterior limb, and sublenticular parts of internal capsule; the caudate nucleus; the putamen; the lateral and medial nuclei of globus pallidus; the lateral and medial medullary laminae of the lenticular nucleus; the nucleus accumbens septi; and some of the thalamic nuclei. Correlation of sonograms obtained in vivo with gross and myelin-stained sections of human brain illustrates the configurations of these structures and the interrelations among them. Physicians familiar with this anatomy may now use sonography to localize focal lesions more accurately than has been possible previously.

Normal infant brain anatomy: correlated real-time sonograms and brain specimens.
An investigation of the identifiable real-time sonographic features of the normal infant brain in the horizontal, coronal, inclined coronal, and midsagittal planes was undertaken. Correlations were made of sonograms of intact brains in vitro, corresponding brain sections, and sonograms in vivo. A large number of anatomic structures could be consistently depicted including cisterns, fissures, fa...

Synaptophysin-Positive Neurons in External And Extreme Capsules in Human Brain
Purpose: Externaland extreme capsules are parts of cerebral white matter, and accordingto the classic knowledge they must have no neuronal cell bodies. This researchis designedto find neurons in the external and extreme capsules, and to determine that these neurons are functional or aberrant. Materitais and Methods: Ten adult normal human brains from both sexes were studied using 15,µm serial c...
متن کاملNicardipine reduces ischemic brain injury. Magnetic resonance imaging/spectroscopy study in cats.
We investigated whether the calcium channel entry blocker nicardipine would reduce ischemic brain damage in barbiturate-anesthetized cats subjected to permanent unilateral occlusion of the middle cerebral artery. The evolution of cerebral injury was assessed in vivo in 24 cats by a combination of proton magnetic resonance imaging and phosphorus-31 magnetic resonance spectroscopy for 5 hours fol...

Between 5 and 30% of patients with Behçet's disease will present neurological signs during the course of their illness. In order to evaluate the radiological signs on neuro-behçet disease, we studied consecutive patients in whom the diagnosis of this disease was retained, and who referred from January 2004 to December 2011 to the neurology and internal medicine departments in Mohammed VI univer...
